"Else when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest. For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified." (1 Corinthians 14:16-17)

In a sense
Granted, Paul, in the top verse, is talking about the praying and speaking in other tongues in the church. I would like to proof-text this, though, in light of all the ways our brothers and sisters in Christ complement one another in their own varied ways. For instance, my friend Andy says "Thanks be to God." when he expresses spontaneous praise during conversation. Nick exults with "Praise the Lord." in his case. Another woman I know says, in her inimitable style and accent, "Thanks, God" when these topics of conversation arise. Each person giving thanks to God in their own right, as is their right.
"But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you." (Romans 6:17)
That form. The way in which God has woven and also interwoven Himself into your life. What do you think about it? Do you think about it? God has taken pains to reveal Himself to you! Amazing! He's always watching you, never to turn away and absolutely loves it when we thank Him in the slightest. Think about the minutest and most innocent thing for which God came through for you. Think about all it took to the get the blessing from His heart to yours. These things are on the tips of the tongues and tops of the heads of those whose hearts are right with Him.
Innocence
"Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance. In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted." (Psalm 89:15-16)
"Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they will be still praising Thee. Selah." (Psalm 84:4)
"He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast." (Proverbs 15:15b)
Four verses that express the wonder of a heart at one with its Creator. The privilege of looking at God! That He would let those whose hearts desire to truly see Him, do so, is mind-blowing. The test, then, is to maintain that vision throughout our day and our life.
