"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." (Proverbs 3:6, emphasis mine)
Pieced together
How hard is this? I hope you read the short prior sentence with the tone and inflection I intend. A tone of near jocularity (as in, it's impossible to do this without God's help) and with the inflection on the last word. Sometimes you come across maxims and rules in the Bible that are polished diamonds. Beautiful to behold and that can (and do) cut through everything.
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." (John 15:4)
"He that saith he abideth in Him ought to himself also so to walk even as He walked." (1 John 2:6)
When we meet Jesus for the first time, the marked difference in life tells. Like freshly fallen snow on a parking lot or across the lawn of your local park. The borders have been erased and the spiritual is now a reality. There is stillness and quiet. And this is the calm before the storm. Because we keep going on. We keep living but now we're living unto Christ. We have been "graffed in" and now the more we seek to acknowledge Him, the more will be under His eye, so to speak, as a sanctified action. You know you breathe more than 100,000 times in a 24 hour period? You blink your eyes over 15,000 times. Those are cold numbers, yes. But have you at least once thanked God for a breath? It's as vital as the last and the next and also more important than your car. Or your bicycle.

"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." (Proverbs 3:6, emphasis mine)
After a while, those little pieces you take to Him will coalesce. And the more you continue focusing on the details, those same details will gel into "the mind of Christ". This is how. By training your attention on the One who gives each instance to you as a gift. The more we take for granted in this life, the less will God be able to use us. It's just how it is. Here's the thing though, life could, could, slow way down while you take a few moments to still anything that would or could contradict whatever the Lord is telling you or showing you. This is okay with me as I would rather follow Christ than anyone else--however subconsciously.
"Peter seeing Him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me." (John 21:22)
